We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Histology Department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Histology techniques and laboratory setting.
Status: Full Time
Discipline: High Volume Chemistry
Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and conduct complex tests and analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established standard operating procedures.
- Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and refine laboratory procedures, quality control measures, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results and offer expert recommendations.
- Executing comprehensive verification and validation processes, including the systematic evaluation and assessment of new testing methodologies, equipment, and systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to maintenance schedules.
- Manage inventory and order supplies to ensure the laboratory is adequately stocked.
- Stay current with advancements, new techniques and technologies into laboratory practices.
- Conducting a wide range of diagnostic and interpretive specimen testing.
- Performing, interpreting, and releasing results, while ensuring the confidentiality of patient information.
- Collaborate with Lab Manager and Medical Scientific Team to set and implement achievable plans and work with team to meet these priorities.
- Participate in critical reviews of key indicators, incidents, audits, inspection, and improvement opportunities resulting in effective implementation of corrective actions, escalating as appropriate and driving continuous improvement.
- Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of new technology.
- Participating in problem solving in work organization and workflow.
What you will bring to the role:
- College diploma or University degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- CMLTO registered.
- At least 5 years of MLT experience or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
- Good computer skills and knowledge.
- Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues.
- Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality.
