Purpose: Responsible for supervising all aspects of grocery receiving and stocking and assists in specific category purchasing. Helps to maintain, grow, and run a successful department.
General Responsibilities
• Role model excellent customer service for staff and provide excellent internal service to staff and peers.
• Ensure that department employees provide excellent customer. Financial Practices
• Maintain working knowledge of various reports
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes and product knowledge to staff. Management Practices
• Communicate productivity, staffing or training issues, system improvement needs, and other relevant information to Department Manager in a timely, thorough and professional way.
• In the absence of the Department Manager, assume full authority and responsibilities of that position.
• Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner including proposing new ideas or better ways of doing things.
• Demonstrate regular, predictable work attendance.
• Demonstrate a willingness and ability to cooperate and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Complete goals in a timely manner, meeting established deadlines.
• Follow health and safety rules.
• Maintain working knowledge of processes and solutions for Store emergencies.
· Acts as Manager on Duty (MOD), when scheduled
Receiving
• Oversee all receiving in the department.
• Maintain functional and efficient receiving policies and procedures assist the receiving team on a regular basis; communicate with all departments to ensure warehouse space is negotiated with respect. • Check products in on receiving days and ensure staff function in accordance with product-check-in procedures.
• Oversee grocery back stock areas.
• Ensure proper receiving by department staff according to established procedures.
Stocking
• Oversee all stocking in the department.
• Ensure shelves/coolers are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness and turnover.
• Set stocking priorities for department staff and working members.
Purchasing and Merchandising
• Responsible for ordering specific categories as designated by the Grocery Manager. With respect to the specific categories:
• Minimize out-of-stocks and overstocks and maximize sales and turnover
• Obtain credit where applicable.
• Review invoices for pricing and discount accuracy; ensuring accurate separation of inventory categories and subcategories.
• Plan attractive displays and ensure that sufficient merchandise is ordered to stock displays for period of display; do periodic comparisons with competitors.
• Ensure accurate, up-to-date price labeling of department items and accurate item entry.
