Department Manager In Training (DPMIT) Permanent Full Time Position - Fresh Departments.
This position is for our Valley Market (Kingston and New Minas Superstore locations)
Training program for the successful candidate will be hosted at our Kingston Superstore #318

Following successful completion of the IN-TRAINING program, the successful candidate will be assigned to a Atlantic Superstore location in the Valley Market.
No Previous Retail, Food Service or Management Experience?
At Loblaw, we offer a comprehensive training program to the successful applicant. While the successful applicant may benefit from having Food Service/Restaurant or Retail Store Experience or previous experience leading/managing a team, we are on the lookout for a candidate willing to learn and take on a new career in Retail.
During your DPMIT, you will be assigned blocks of training time within all fresh departments. These included all Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and will included but not limited too the following:
Meat & Seafood Department - Learning all aspects of the meat & seafood operation including meat cutting techniques, fileting fish, sanitization standards, and all product knowledge.
Bakery Department - Learning all aspects of the bakery department including product proofing, baking, cake and sweets decorating, instore and commercial bread merchandising, sanitization standards, and all product knowledge.
Home Meal Replacement (HMR) - Learning all aspects of the HMR department including cooking fresh product, meal preparation, sandwich preparation program, merchandizing, sanitization standards, and all product knowledge.
Deli Department - Learning all aspects of the Deli department including product knowledge, merchandising, deli and sandwich tray program preparation, instore and commercial bread merchandising, sanitization standards, and all product knowledge.
Produce Department (including Fresh To Go/Salad Bar/Floral and Garden Centre Program (in season) - Learning all aspects of the Produce department including product knowledge, merchandising, salad production, merchandising, sanitization standards, and all product knowledge.
Upon successful completion of the DPMIT and as part of our Management Team, you will be assigned to a home department. As part of our Management Team, you will be a mentor and leader, developing your team through succession planning initiatives, supporting our Care, Ownership, Respect, and Excellence (CORE) Values.
Part of your responsibility as a Department Manager will include weekly rotational responsibilities/ participation as part of our Manager on Duty rotation.

What you'll do:
· Oversee the day-to-day operations of your assigned department within your home store
· Ensure the department meets or exceeds sales and profitability goals
· Train and develop department colleagues in customer service, product knowledge, and merchandising
· Ensure merchandise is stocked, displayed, and priced appropriately
· Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely replenishment
· Maintain a clean and safe department for customers and employees
· Manage departmental expenses and assist in budget preparation
· Communicate regularly with store management and other department managers to ensure store-wide goals are being met
· Be constantly on the lookout for great talent to join our team
· Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to improve productivity, engagement and retention
· Be committed to maintaining merchandising and operational standards
· Building and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging
What you bring:
· High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
· Previous retail management experience, preferably in a departmental or specialty store setting
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop associates
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
· Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
· Knowledge of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service
· Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
