This position has overall responsibility and accountability for handling labour relations functions and activities at store level for the specified Banner/Region.
This position completes assigned labour relations strategies by implementing Company policies, programs and procedures related to labour relations; deals with legal, highly sensitive, confidential, and political issues related to labour relations; participates in the negotiation of collective agreements, mediation/arbitration hearings; administration and interpretation of multiple collective bargaining agreements; and advises on handling grievances and disciplinary matters.
What You Do:
Establish and maintain constructive communication and effective working relationships with management and designated union representatives.
Interpret and advise management and store operations on collective agreement language.
Provide advice on labour and employee relations issues to human resources, management, and store operations.
Conduct employee counseling meetings, including disciplinary meetings.
Conduct training seminars as the need arises.
Coordinate grievances and arbitration process in conjunction with store management.
Counsel management on resolving employee issues.
Liaise with payroll, benefits, and safety department to resolve issues.
Coordinate and implement Corporate Labour Relations initiatives and special projects as required.
What You Bring:
University degree or college diploma preferably in Business, Labour Relations, or Human Resources.
Knowledge of applicable legislation and concepts to be applied in unionized environments.
Exceptional interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
Solid customer service orientations.
3-5 years progressive experience in labour relations environment.
Valid driver’s license required. Out of province traveling required.
