Manager, Real Estate Loblaw

Role Mandate:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Real Estate, the Manager is responsible for negotiating lease renewals for various banners including Shoppers Drug Mart and Lifemark. The manager will also be responsible to develop real estate strategies which may involve relocations, expansions and incremental opportunities for Shoppers Drug Mart and Lifemark.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the growth of Shoppers Drug Mart and Lifemark network by recommending new site opportunities.
  • Work with and develop relationships within the real estate community that will include Landlord, Developers, and various brokers.
  • Negotiate real estate deals including new building leases, lease renewals, lease terminations, and amending agreements for the various banners.
  • Develop economic proformas together with operation to validate relocations, expansions incremental opportunities and lease terminations for Shoppers Drug Mart and Lifemark to be presented in front of various stakeholder including the VP and SVP of Real Estate
  • Conduct market data research, detailed commercial leasing, costing reviews and compiling all other relevant information supporting the real estate transaction
  • Support the Real Estate members on other special projects, as assigned.
  • Visit various sites to better understand the market.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership skills and able to work with diverse personalities and styles
  • Ability to collaborate across department and cultivate positive relationship within a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle a high-volume workload, tight deadlines and adapt to multiple changes in priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adept strategic problem solver with the ability to make supportable decisions
  • Self-starter, detail oriented and possess strong, organization, negotiation, and mathematical skills
  • 1-3 years of experience working in the real estate industry
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel with ability to put together presentations that describe the real estate project, create and organize charts/economic proformas
  • Basics skills in interpreting financial data, lease documents and market trends
  • Post secondary education equivalent to a university degree in and/or college related diploma in real estate, or related field.
