THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE HAMILTON CORPORATE OFFICE

The Senior Director, Meat & Seafood will provide leadership, strategy and direction to their team in category planning, product assortment, innovation, space allocation, pricing and promotional activity, retail operations/standards and in nurturing supplier relationships in support of achieving growth in sales, tonnage, profit and market share.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensure your team of Merchandising Managers’ deliver on product assortment, sales, promotional and buying plans are in place to support the achievement of department targets.
  • Ensure weekly ad economics and LE targets are met.
  • Create and execute a formal category review process.
  • Create pricing strategies and monitor pricing indices to maintain a competitive position in the marketplace.
  • Implement promotions (including seasonal planning) & programs for all categories.
  • Create and communicate merchandising standards and provide coaching at retail.
  • Develop and sustain strong supplier relationships with the supplier community
  • Identify trends and emerging categories and partner with suppliers on innovation.
  • Achieving budgeted P&L and contribution metrics.
  • Responsible to ensure retail conditions & merchandising standards are sustained through the support of your specialist team.
  • Manage, train, motivate and appraise direct reports including on-the-job training needs for each team member.
  • Spend quality time developing store leadership in standards execution and identifying/resolving P&L opportunities.

Education and Experience

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team with direct reports, including operations specialists
  • 5-10 years of related managerial, merchandising and operations experience.
  • Rail meat experience in a retail environment
  • A good understanding of yields as well as veal and lamb.
  • Willingness to follow a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Post-secondary education in Business or Retail program is an asset
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, SAP
