Located in the heart of Kitsilano, Madrona School is a small Kindergarten-Grade 8 independent school for gifted and exceptional students. We offer an educational program that supports the whole child including, challenging academics, physical and arts education, along with an emphasis on the development of good character, social responsibility, and social-emotional health.
We are inviting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Homeroom teacher. At Madrona, teachers work with small groups of students and have the flexibility to design units of inquiry based on student interests. We are looking for teachers who are passionate about working with adolescents and understand both the social-emotional and academic needs of adolescent learners. We are a small staff of collaborative, friendly, and supportive teachers. Madrona teachers are flexible, curious and creative and pride themselves on their ability to develop close relationships with their students. Responsibilities
? Homeroom teacher
? Able to teach Language Arts
? Able to teach Mathematics and Science
? Ability to implement assessment for, as and of learning
? Report on students’ strengths and areas for growth
? Communicate regularly with parents about student learning and goals
? Nurture students’ academic, social and emotional growth
? Participate in leading/coaching extra-curricular clubs and activities
Qualifications
? Bachelor of Education
? Valid BC Teaching Certificate
? Experience in using and integrating technology to support teaching and learning
? An understanding of the unique needs of gifted learners
