Job Responsibilities:

Role Summary

Magna is committed to supporting the community through a number of programs, volunteer work, and charitable activities. The Neighbourhood Network department supports neighbourhoods in York Region, Ontario, Canada by linking volunteers and community resources to registered charities and not-for-profit agencies. Neighbourhood Network is dedicated to promoting volunteerism and recognizing active citizens who give their time and affect positive change in their community. The Neighbourhood Network Summer Student will support staff in the successful delivery of all Neighbourhood Network programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Neighbourhood Network staff in daily operations, including but not limited to administrative support, website updates, meeting minutes and agendas, and social media.

  • Assist the Program Coordinator with planning and execution of all Neighbourhood Network programs and events such as Spring Tree Planting, Partner Workshop, and Community Food Drive.

  • Create and execute the annual Magna Summer Student Community Engagement Day, including researching local charities to support, liaising between charities and Magna representatives, creating invitations for Summer Students, coordinating all event logistics, and executing the event.

  • Play a key role in the execution of the Global 6K Walk for Water event at Magna’s Simeon Park.

  • Support global Corporate Social Responsibility work, including reporting and dashboard creation, as required.

Knowledge and Education:

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time degree, diploma, or certificate program at an accredited institution.

  • Familiarity with York Region-based charities, non-profits, and community groups is an asset.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Organizational and administrative skills; event planning experience is an asset.

  • Marketing, communications, and social media skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Volunteer experience and/or sound knowledge of the charitable sector in York Region is an asset.

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment.

  • Some travel in GTA is required.
