Account Manager (Asian Markets)

Reporting to the Director of Account Management (Western Region), the position of Specialized Lending Account Manager (Asian Markets) will play an integral role in the growth of Manulife Bank’s Specialized Lending portfolio, specifically dedicated to our Asian Markets business. This includes underwriting new loan cases, working closely with our Sales partners and Credit Risk Management. It also involves an advanced level of financial analysis, with a special emphasis on financial statements and insurance illustrations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Loan structuring based on client information and requested product type, particularly for insurance-based lending (e.g. Cash Surrender Value lines of credit)

  • Execution of sound credit analysis and risk management practices in the facilitation of prudent lending in compliance with Bank lending policies in the preparation of credit submissions.

  • Financial analysis of various financial documents, including accountant prepared financial statements, investment/account statements, personal income tax returns, etc.

  • Identify key transaction risks and determine key mitigants; security analysis

  • Consistent professional interaction with internal and external parties

  • Commitment letter preparation, deal closings & fundings

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of commercial banking and/or personal lending experience

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in finance/commerce/accounting

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy

  • High level of professionalism, self-motivation and sense of urgency with the ability to work successfully independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office (MS Word and Excel and internet-based communication mediums) - knowledge of Manulife Bank systems is an asset

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin are required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of insurance products (including insurance policy illustrations) and insurance-based lending with minimum 3 years lending experience in this area

Salary range is expected to be between

$70,350.00 CAD - $117,250.00 CAD
