Manager, Business Operation Support, Controls

In a rapidly evolving Investment Industry, characterized by new regulations and globalization, the Manager, Business Operation Support - Controls plays a crucial role in navigating the complexities of our investment environment. The Manager, Business Operations Support-Controls will report to the Director, Fund Operations. The primary responsibilities of the incumbent will be to support the Trust Accounting Administration team (aka Fund Operations) with various reconciliations and Controls, to ensure any system changes impacting reconciliations/controls are properly analyzed, documented, and implemented in the team. The incumbent will collaborate with other Managers to prioritize, define process improvements, and find opportunities to support internal and external product stakeholders. Finally, the Manager, Business Operations Support-Controls will also participate in Global projects impacting the team, along with managing fund initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.

  • Communicate clearly and document processes, decisions, business cases effectively to ensure transparency and understanding across all levels.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge regarding fund accounting, general accounting, and the mutual fund business.

  • Perform and oversee various Fund reconciliations ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

  • Proactively Identify achievements, and current and potential issues, troubleshooting and problem resolution.

  • Provide guidance/support to team members and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • Support the testing process for automation/process improvements.

  • Support Audit reviews (internal/external) by providing timely information to colleagues, clients, auditors and/or regulators.

  • Troubleshoot issues on day-to-day operations; perform/support investigations and provide recommendations to address issues, corrections and achieve efficiencies.

  • Identify and resolve problems which require the implementation of new solutions to current processes.

  • Support various initiatives and ad hoc requests, with curiosity and creativity, always challenging status quo, and understanding of the End-to-End operations process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience in Fund Accounting or Accounting Firms

  • Knowledge of the mutual Fund Industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accounting designation, an asset

  • Experience in working in a Global Organization,

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate negotiate and influence successfully,

  • Detail- oriented with a high level of accuracy,

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,

  • Result oriented, Ability to react quickly, adapt to changes and meet tight deadlines,

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment,

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, bilingualism an asset

  • Experience in fund accounting or investment administration, an asset,

  • Knowledge of the Fund of Fund investment concept, an asset,

  • Knowledge of information system and Microsoft Office suite,

  • Operational background or understanding of operational environment, an asset,

  • Must be resourceful and a self-starter

Bilingual (French & English) is required - The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between

$83,250.00 CAD - $149,850.00 CAD
