Job Description

In this role, a Senior Email Marketing Specialist leads dynamic email marketing campaigns targeted to advisors and customers, and provides leadership and email standard process advice to key internal business partners. This Specialist will be responsible for the continual evolution of Manulife’s industry leading B2B and B2C email marketing initiatives and Sponsor communications. This role will be responsible for managing and driving consumer and advisor focused email marketing initiatives, and this position entails the creation of both email campaigns as well as tactical execution of email deployments.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic partner for Email advice, grow lead generation, data cleansing and segmentation
  • Provide consultation on available options for email marketing, analyze email metrics to determine future deployments, and deployment of self-serve emails
  • Keep up with email marketing industry best practices, as well as brand guidelines and processes as they relate to the Digital Messaging COE
  • Configure and deploy template-based emails and self-serve solutions
  • The execution of internal and external email programs and campaigns using industry best practice techniques and tools
  • Manage expectations of internal stakeholders and ensure timely execution of email marketing initiatives encompassing Manulife-to-advisor mailings, Manulife-to-Sponsor mailings, Sponsor-to-Consumer mailings, and Manulife-to-advisor-to-consumer mailings
  • Increase email engagement using A/B and multivariate testing, ranging from basic subject line tests to more complex, algorithmic experiments
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in email, mobile, and digital advertising trends, identifying opportunities for continual improvement in digital marketing efforts
  • Understanding optimization methodologies and the situational application of such tactics to bolster campaign results is a key measure of success for this role
  • Build relationships with key internal stakeholders to foster a collaborative approach to the execution of initiatives
  • Working closely with preview tools (Litmus, Email on Acid), Branding, Communications, and Technology teams, monitor compatibility of email communications across platforms and devices, optimizing email structure to match target audience requirements
  • Assist with training and support for email marketing efforts with internal stakeholders from across Canadian segment
  • Provide insights to internal team members when major transitions occur in email service provider platforms, including potential impact assessment for Manulife executions
  • Partner with business stakeholders to monitor the performance of email and marketing automation campaigns and create aggregate scorecards to measure the effectiveness
  • Use third party tools to measure inbox effectiveness, monitoring deliverability beyond server level (hard and soft bounces) to ensure messages are reaching the inbox

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience as an email marketer working with large scale Email Service Providers such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, Pardot, Eloqua, etc.
  • Experience as an email marketing including email best practices, metrics and email engagement
  • Experience working with HTML, CSS, and AMPscript an asset
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Dreamweaver) and web authoring software (code editors)
  • Strong knowledge of browser and email environments, including known compatibility issues across platforms and email clients
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications are an asset
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of best practices for email creative, segmentation, dynamic content, testing methodologies, deliverability, and list growth
  • Ability to negotiate, mediate, solve problems, and influence business partners and team members
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate digital marketing principles based on industry best practice guidelines, personal experience, and research findings
  • Ability to define and execute best practices for email marketing throughout the customer journey
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task while managing expectations of numerous stakeholders
  • Ideal candidate would have experience with email marketing in both B2B and B2C environments, and understand the tactical differences between marketing to each type of audience

Salary range is expected to be between

$70,350.00 CAD - $117,250.00 CAD
