Maria Montessori Academy is an independent school in Victoria offering dynamic, hands-on learning to students from Preschool to Grade 12. We are currently seeking a part-time teacher to join our Inclusive Education team to begin September 2024 (0.6 FTE). Our Inclusive Education department services students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. The advertised role will focus on supporting literacy for elementary-aged students.

We are looking for a forward-thinking educator who maintains a neuro-affirming approach to supporting students. Preference will be given to candidates with a background or training in Inclusive Education. The successful candidate will have excellent time management skills and be eager to work with our elementary school population.

Minimum Qualifications:

BC Teacher Certification

Successful applicants must be local to Victoria, BC

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or related professional experience

Well-versed in numerous computer applications and programs (including MyEd.)

Strong knowledge of the IEP process

Experience and interest in working collaboratively with colleagues

Successful experience working with and understanding students of this age group

Organized, punctual, and reliable

Invested in professional development and furthering their learning as a professional

Excellent communication skills with students, their parents, and colleagues

Additional Assets:

Background/Certificate in Inclusive Education

Experience in developing and implementing IEPs

Montessori training/experience

Ability to maintain and promote working relationships with community professionals
