What we are looking for:

Reporting to the Manager of the Emergency Department (ED), the ED Access and Flow Nurse will work in collaboration with ED team and corporate stakeholders including the Medicine Access & Flow RN and Manager of Access & Flow/Administrator on Site ( AOS), to support flow efficiencies (using business intelligence tools/dashboards). The ED access and flow nurse will have oversight on operational performance for all ED patients from arrival to the ED, to the point of discharge from the ED/ transfer to the inpatient units or transfer to external sites, with a focus on meeting provincial Pay for Results (P4R) targets, as well as improving patient safety and patient experience indicators. 

 

What you bring to the role:

·        Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse

·        Current BCLS certification and motivation to complete your ACLS certification within 6 months 

·        Minimum 3 years of recent emergency department experience 

·        1-2 years Leadership Experience (projects, charge nurse/team leader/supervisor/flow leader) preferred

·        Completion of an accredited college Coronary Care 1 program or proof of demonstrated current enrollment or equivalent required, or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire

·        RNAO membership is preferred

·        Emergency Nursing/Critical Care Certificate and/or ENC(C) is a definite asset

·        TNCC and ENPC certification are highly recommended

·        Excellent physical assessment skills; Physical Assessment courses are an asset

·        Proficient computer skills 

·        Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment

·        Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills

·        Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently 

·        Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal and teaching skills

·        Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience

·        Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards

·        Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

 

 

Work Schedule:

The successful candidate must be available to work 8/12 hour day/evening shifts with flexibility to cover additional shifts as required.  Please note schedule may change due to operational needs.

 

Compensation:

Salary Band J: Ranges from $37.96 -54.42 per hour plus premium pay may be applicable
