What we are looking for:

As a member of our inter-professional team, you will work closely with Plastic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Technologists, the Fracture Clinic, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Wound Care Nurses in providing patient care within the Plastic Clinic.  As a member of this team, you will also work collaboratively with General Surgeons, and Ophthalmologists to provide patient care within the Minor Surgery Clinic.  You will utilize your clinical assessment, patient teaching, communication, critical thinking and leadership skills in this fast-paced environment where our focus is patient/family centered care, evidence based practice and customer satisfaction.

 

 

 What you bring to the role:

  • Certificate in Practical nursing required
  • Post graduate certificates in aseptic procedures (Perioperative Certificate), physical assessment and medications is required
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience working in  an operating room setting as a scrub nurse
  • Minimum of 2 years recent  experience, within the past year,  in an ambulatory care setting including Plastics, Fracture and minor procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, completion of an operating room course
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of suture removal, dressing changes and assisting with minor procedures is required
  • RPNAO membership is preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent physical assessment skills
  • Ability to critically think, problem solve and function in a fast paced clinic environment
  • Ability to act as a resource and role model
  • Ability to assist with start up of a new clinic
  • Proficient computer skills  
  • Demonstrated commitment to a patient/family centred care environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
  • Well developed organization, communication, interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, continuing education and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
  • Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

  

Work Schedule:

The successful candidate is required to be available Monday to Friday (0800-1600) when needed. Please note schedules may change based on operational needs.

 

Compensation:

Salary Band CU10: $34.70 - $35.97 per hour
