Corporate Development Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this role is to provide project management and analysis support so that Mattr can complete strategic acquisitions to grow earnings.  The role will be key to identifying strategic targets and enabling Mattr to integrate targets and deliver on growth expectations following transactions. Responsibilities will include management of the internal diligence process, completing some aspects of due diligence directly, market analysis for target markets, and tracking targets and transactions in areas of interest.

 

DUTIES:
Lead point of contact for data related to Mattr acquisition targets
a.    Monitor and analyze target industries, market segments and new technologies to track M&A activity and identify opportunities

b.    Keep acquisition funnel data up to date through regular meetings with business units
c.    Complete detailed market analysis as needed for specific target markets
d.    Ensure project confidentiality internally and externally with records of internal and external NDA’s and confidentiality agreements

e.    Propose new targets and assist with outreach to potential targets to identify opportunities outside of bank run processes

 

Lead and project manage due diligence process for acquisitions.
a. Become familiar with subject matter experts at the corporate level and in the business units 
b. Maintain standard diligence question list and adapt list to specific targets 
c. Maintain acquisition target timeline and diligence schedule and ensure visibility internally 
d. Interface with seller to collect diligence information and make it available to internal stakeholders 
e. Work with internal stakeholders to ensure they have access to diligence needed and have completed their review on schedule. 
f. Execute specific functional due diligence - site visits, commercial DD, financial DD, IT DD - as requested 
g. Lead periodic calls during diligence to track teams progress and identify schedule risks and team support needs 
h. Collect key deal risks from internal stakeholders and rank risks for severity and likelihood 
i. Support integration planning and implementation. Work with integration team to ensure plans are in place to mitigate highest risks identified.

 

Support acquisition negotiations and valuation process
a. Work with Corp Dev Manager to support modeling and valuation of acquisition targets

b. Propose critical negotiation points based on diligence and valuation support.
c. Assist with negotiation as requested.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree education, preferrably in Business or Finance
  • MBA or Master's degree - Asset 
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience
  • Professional experience with acquisitions through corporate M&A, private equity, or investment banking.  
  • Market analysis, project management, and/or business development experiences.  
  • Corporate experience in industrial / manufacturing sectors is very beneficial.  
  • Confidence and mature presence with proven executive relationship management capability is desired.  
  • Disciplined approach to tasks and ability to management many tasks in parallel.
