About the Position

As a Director of Canadian Taxation at Forvis Mazars, you will play a pivotal role in our dynamic team, directly contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional audit and consulting services in taxation.

This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and inspire, overseeing strategic client mandates and driving innovative tax solutions. You will guide and mentor team members, ensuring their professional growth, and be instrumental in the development and delivery of internal tax training.

Additionally, you will actively participate in the business development efforts to fuel the firm’s growth.

Your responsibilities

  • Supervise compliance mandates for strategic clients, partnerships, individuals, and trusts
  • Identify new tax service opportunities for our clients
  • Implement proposed solutions for our clients
  • Act as a coach and advisor to team members to foster their professional development and assist in problem-solving
  • Participate in the development of internal tax training and deliver some training sessions as needed
  • Contribute to the firm's growth through business development

Your Skills and Experience

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Master’s degree in Taxation or CPA Canada’s Fundamental Tax Course
  • CPA designation
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in an accounting firm
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing complex corporate tax returns
  • Experience in preparing tax planning memoranda
  • Proficiency with relevant software (Microsoft Office Suite, Taxprep, CCH, Taxnet Pro, etc.)
  • Ability to interpret and apply tax laws
  • Highly skilled in research methods and tax databases
  • Strong leadership skills and critical thinking
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to manage projects and deadlines with an optimal client experience approach
  • Ability to simplify and adapt communications to the audience, both orally and in writing
  • Great attention to detail
  • Fluency in French and English to interact effectively with all our clients in Quebec and beyond
  • Experience in preparing tax provisions according to ASPE standards and, for large corporations, according to IFRS standards (an asset)
