Plant Director

The Plant Director will be working with the team of production supervisors; he/she will be in charge of all staff and the smooth daily running of operations, from receipt of raw materials to delivery of products. He/she will be working closely with the quality, sales, human resources and accounting departments to achieve the productivity and growth objectives.

The Plant Director will assume various functions within the Operations group in order to achieve the overall objectives of the company. He/she will also provide leadership to production supervisors. He/she must focus on the factory's tactical and strategic plans and ensure they align with the company's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Take responsibility for all safety related factory practices, lockout and tagout cards, job safety analysis cards, SOURCES cards, etc. ensuring that the production environment and team members always act in compliance with security measures.
  2. Optimize the staffing plan in the production area to maximize a cost-effective structure.
  3. Collaborate with different teams inside and outside the plant to develop solutions that allow deviations from standards to be quickly corrected.
  4. Implement internal administration programs and standards that ensure the production area, and the equipment is in optimal condition at all times.
  5. Take responsibility for daily, weekly and monthly production performance and correct any negative trends quickly and permanently to ensure the production objectives are achieved.
  6. In conjunction with the COO, ensure production expenses are within budget while monitoring and prioritizing activities to achieve the greatest benefit and value.
  7. Provide leadership, development and management of production staff to ensure the department operates safely, efficiently and adequately.
  8. Produce a daily, weekly and monthly report on production performance, including analysis and countermeasures in the event of non-compliance with targets.
  9. Collaborate on opportunities to reduce costs or improve performance through effective capital planning and/or workflow redesign, as well as the maintenance plan.
  10. Ensure timely and effective communication with the COO and factory team when significant production issues arise that impact safety, quality, costs and schedules.
  11. Ensure product quality by working closely with employees, the quality department and the sales department
  12. Ensure that the plant complies with government environmental standards compliance guidelines, including local, provincial and federal requirements.
  13. Prepare reports and provide recommendations for the senior management regarding the production processes and machinery efficacy.
  14. Participate proactively in internal and external events to promote the image and the message of the company.
  15. Cooperate, train, and work closely with the colleagues. Ensure a transparent and smooth communication and passing of knowledge, documents, and list of contacts to maintain a stable level of work on the projects and meet the predetermined deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, business administration, or related field.
  • More than 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or operations management, preferably in the plastics recycling industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastic recycling processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills to manage a diverse workforce.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements related to waste management and recycling.
  • Established record of optimizing plant efficiency, reducing costs, and improving production processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and sustainability initiatives.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and practices to ensure the production of high-quality recycled plastic materials.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot operational issues effectively.
  • Highly reliable and consistent.
  • High flexibility and versatility.
  • Patient, perseverant and resourceful.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultures.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office application (Outlook)
  • Fluent in English or French; bilingualism is preferred.
