A career as an associate or associate director in the New Products and Activities team places you at the heart of the growth of Financial Markets at National Bank. You will have a direct impact on the delivery of new products and activities, driven by strategic and growth objectives. In close collaboration with business lines (traders and risk management solutions) and partners, you will understand the company's objectives and values, as well as the products and transactions of Financial Markets. This role requires inspiring leadership, sharp strategic thinking, and informed decision-making. You will be a key player in supporting various business units and partners, designing innovative and sustainable implementation solutions.
The team's mandate is to reduce time-to-market and ensure the sustainability of activities. You will need to be on the lookout for improvement opportunities, introduce innovative solutions, collaborate with our partners to implement these changes, and continuously contribute to the health of key processes supporting Financial Markets.
Your Job
• Understand the business, products, and transactions to better support the business lines during the launch of new products/activities or for any material changes to existing products/activities, taking into account regulatory frameworks and cross-border implications.
• Assist the business lines (Traders or Risk Management Solutions) in the preliminary impact analysis of new products and activities to determine the most suitable and efficient implementation solutions
• Deliver initiatives under pressure in a timely manner, considering sustainability requirements, ensuring agile and effective delivery while respecting a rigorous governance framework.
• Lead the implementation of new products and activities by collaborating with business lines and partners to define end-to-end requirements and impacts on business capabilities.
• Identify potential risks and impacts, develop appropriate mitigation strategies, and ensure key processes are aligned with the target state to promote growth and value.
• Contribute to the prioritization of deployment strategies, taking into account benefits, risks, time-to-market, and possible synergies with other initiatives.
• Ensure clear and rigorous documentation of new products and activities, risks, mitigation strategies, debts, and delivery status in the business case.
• Coordinate and support business units to improve communication and understanding of end-to-end processes.
• Assist business units in designing solutions and solving problems in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with the target state to maintain the health of business capabilities.
• Contribute to the overall performance of the team by supporting colleagues in delivering urgent initiatives, solving complex problems, and sharing knowledge and experiences.

National Bank Financial Markets is a leading financial services firm offering investment banking services to a diverse clientele, including corporations, institutional clients, and governments. We have offices in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, London, Dublin, Hong Kong, and Paris. The New Products and Activities group is looking for an Associate or Associate Director who is passionate about making a real difference in Financial Market’s mission in this fast paced changing environment.
This position reports to the Managing Director, New Products and Activities, in charge of the business cases in the Financial Markets sector. New Products and Activities is composed of about thirty talented and dedicated individuals. It stands out for its team spirit, leadership, dynamism, agility, and knowledge of the end-to-end processes and activities in the Financial Markets sector.
The team works closely with the traders and risk management solution specialists, as well as various highly specialized sectors of Financial Markets which allow us to further develop a deep understanding of the business, products, key end-to-end processes and the ecosystem in which financial markets operate.
The position may be based in Montreal or Toronto.
Basic Requirements
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in Financial Markets or Securities
• Good knowledge of financial markets businesses, activities and ecosystem including products, systems, data, key processes, and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of the securities trading, lending, borrowing and custody value chain and business capabilities is an asset
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, autonomy, judgment, make connections and challenge the status quo
• Excellent skills in analysis, organization, and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
• Capacity to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment to support a demanding professional clientele
• Great team spirit, proactivity, positive attitude, motivation, and commitment
• Knowledge of Confluence/Jira, ISM and Global one, are an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a clear and concise manner, both writing and verbal, in French and English
