National Bank Financial Inc, ("NBF") is seeking to hire an Engineering-in-training (E.I.T), a Geologist-in-training (G.I.T), or a Technologist for an Analyst role in the Acquisitions and Divestitures (A&D) group within the Energy Investment Banking team at NBF. As an analyst, you will actively participate in a wide variety of transactions led by senior members of the A&D team. You will gain exposure to the firm’s business and deepen your knowledge of the investment banking industry.
Your role
- Prepare and format materials for outward facing meetings such as technical presentations and pitch materials
- Provide technical evaluation and review of oil & gas assets
- Perform extensive industry and company research
- Attend and participate in presentations with clients

The Investment Banking Group at NBF has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing strong growth in deal flow.
NBF’s Energy Investment Banking team is looking to hire an analyst to work out of its Calgary Office. Join a team of 6 highly motivated individuals who report to the Managing Director of the A&D group.
The successful candidate will benefit from on-the-job training and mentorship, supplemented by occasional third-party training in financial modelling and various tools used in our day-to-day work. Although the emphasis is placed on analysis, financial modelling and written presentations, candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other advisors.
Prerequisites
· Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Geology combined with an interest in finance and economics
· One to three years of experience in upstream oil and gas & reserves evaluation are key alongside any additional experience in investment banking, equity research, capital markets and/or energy/infrastructure related experience is considered an asset
· Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
· Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
· Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
· Experience with geoSCOUT, Value Navigator, Mosaic is considered an asset
