A career as a Manager in the Counterpart Documentation Center (CDC) at the National Bank of Canada is to be a committed leader within Operations Financial Markets. In this role, you will work with a dynamic, evolving team where the work is stimulating and diverse. You will implement the necessary actions for the delivery of the service offering while aiming to improve the efficiency, productivity and profitability of the sector. You will also be responsible for motivating and optimising the contribution of your team, while promoting their growth and the development of their skills through personalize coaching.  

You will work with the team responsible for supporting international subsidiaries and branches of the Bank, as well as the Financial Institutions Group in the in the execution of due diligence and regulatory onboarding of counterparties with the aim of ensuring an optimal customer experience and contributing to the success of Financial Markets and the transformation of Operations.

Your job

  • Manage a team of 9 professionals responsible for delivering the various activities
  • Develop and maintain an expertise in due diligence, applicable regulations and counterparty lifecycle management
  • Provide customer-centric support to customers and internal partners
  • Simplify and improve processes related to daily activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders (Front Office, Compliance, Risk Management, IT, etc.) and ensure to maintain ongoing effective communication
  • Develop, implement and evolve controls and tools to achieve high quality standards and minimize operational risks
  • Act as a coach and guide the team to develop their potential by identifying learning and development opportunities while strengthening versatility

Your team

This position reports to the Senior Manager - Counterparty Documentation Center and is located in downtown Montreal.

This position is for a person who enjoys managing, coaching and supporting a team within Financial Markets Operations, and who is passionate about AML/KYC and regulatory onboarding. You have excellent knowledge of various regulations, primarily the Proceeds of Crime Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act, compliance standards applicable to relationships with banks, as well as regulations related to institutional clients in financial markets.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor's degree related to the sector of activity and 6 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree related to the sector and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in personnel management and stakeholder management
  • Experience in Financial Markets
  • Good knowledge of the Proceeds of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act
  • Experience in process improvement and automation
  • Organizational capacity in managing daily activities and the impact of projects
  • Demonstrated ability in change management
