A career as a Senior Legal Advisor in the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs team in the National Bank's Legal Department means getting involved in a variety of initiatives, supporting business units in their success and developing in a fast-growing area of law. Your role
- Provide legal advice on matters relating to personal banking products, consumer law and banking law
- Participate in implementing and deploying multiple projects and regulatory initiatives and provide legal advice that has an impact on the company’s operations and clients
- Perform analysis and research, issue legal opinions, and make recommendations to ensure the success of business units specializing in credit, financing, pricing, bank accounts and investments
- Draft documents for clients in accordance with legal requirements and business needs
- Understand the impact of regulatory requirements on the Bank’s activities
- Improve, modernize and simplify internal processes to increase the Bank’s profitability based on market trends and regulatory changes
- Analyze, interpret, and review various legal reports and documents in order to safeguard the Bank's rights
- Participate in industry discussions, committees or special projects and represent the Bank in dealings with various outside organizations and agencies

As part of the Corporate and Regulatory Affairs team, you will be part of a multidisciplinary group made up of dozens of people who value and protect National Bank’s assets while having a real and positive impact on its clients. You report to the Senior Manager and work closely with the legal advisors in the Regulatory division. This is a unique opportunity to join our team!

Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in law and 5 to 10 years’ experience
- Member of the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires du Québec, with extensive experience
- Experience in one of the following areas of law: regulatory law, consumer law, contract drafting and review
- Desire and ability to learn different areas of law and contribute in this regard
- Good judgement and business acumen
- Ability to offer efficient and quality service to business partners
- Proactive attitude, leadership, and initiative
- Ability to manage priorities and a large volume of files
