Description
As a Senior Manager, Credit in the Real Estate Credit team, you make use of your experience and gained knowledge to adjudicate commercial real estate loan requests of $10MM+ within your delegated lending limits and in line with the adequation between the Bank's business growth objectives and risk appetite.
Your role
- Approve or decline commercial real estate loans exceeding $10MM+ within the delegated lending limits and in keeping with ongoing Bank’s policies, norms and procedures.
- Advise the LOB on the best practices of Real Estate Risk Management and if need be, suggest alternate credit structure to help them obtain final Credit approval.
- Work efficiently and harmoniously in partnership with the LOB to provide them with the highest standard of service.
- Identify early signals of a risk deterioration and if need be, recommend the transfer of the problem loan to the Special Loans Unit to minimize potential loan losses.
- Act as a resource person to help implement and/or review policies, norms and procedures governing the adjudication process of commercial real estate loans.
Your team
Within Real Estate Credit, you team up with four other colleagues and report to the Senior Manager. The Real Estate Credit team members combine a significant number of years of experience in both sales and risk management functions covering the full credit cycle from initial underwriting up to the recovery and/or realization of distressed loans. Such a deep and broad credit knowledge is crucial for maintaining a strong 2nd line of defense for Bank’s advances.
Qualifications:
- University degree related to the industry and seven years of relevant experience OR Master's degree related to the industry and five years of relevant experience
- Experience in real estate credit.
- Experience in commercial credit;
- Experience in the banking sector desirable.
- Good knowledge of the commercial real estate industry and good command of traditional lending methods to finance industrial, commercial and office buildings.
- Knowledge of lending to the multi-residential rental sector desirable.
- Ability to quickly identify potential major risks and propose adequate mitigating solutions;
- Ability to negotiate and resolve complex risk structures.
