Description
A career as a Senior Director in the Special Loans Unit within the Risk Management sector at National Bank means leading a team of corporate turnaround specialists who assess risks and improvement opportunities and develop recovery strategies for managing high-risk commercial borrowers. You will be responsible for improving overall credit quality by proposing profitable credit solutions while mitigating risks for the organization.
Your role:
- Manage and coach a team of Senior Managers to achieve objectives and generate a positive impact in alignment with the Bank’s values.
- Coordinate and communicate case management strategies to internal stakeholders (business lines, Credit sector, senior management, Compliance, Public Relations, specialized groups, etc.).
- Minimize loan losses, legal risks, and reputational risks for the Bank.
- Restore the profitability of financially distressed accounts.
- Ensure rigorous account monitoring to maintain portfolio quality.
- Ensure the presentation of complete and accurate management reports to the Sector’s leadership team and be responsible for quarterly forecasts for the sector.
- Participate in committees requiring a high level of expertise and represent the Bank with various organizations, authorities, and key industry stakeholders.
- Minimize the volume of loans transferred to the doubtful loans category.
- Negotiate agreement terms with various stakeholders.
- Support and advise business lines and the Bank’s credit sector in handling special cases and/or special projects
Your team
As part of the Special Loans Unit, your work will align with our mission to support clients in their restructuring efforts while mitigating risks for the Bank. You will lead a team of five experienced Senior Managers managing a portfolio of large commercial accounts primarily in Quebec and the Maritimes. This is a dynamic, challenging, and highly diversified environment.
You will report to the Vice President, Special Loans Unit. The team stands out for its expertise, its excellent track record in minimizing loan losses, its cross-functional view of operational risks within the organization, its collaboration with multiple stakeholders with diverse areas of expertise , as well as its ability to take action and its creative mindset for finding innovative solutions.
Requirements:
- University degree and 10 to 15 years of relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of commercial lending and syndicated loan transactions
- In-depth knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency
- Experience in personnel management
- Experience in financial markets transactions (an asset)
- Proven leadership skills when working with various stakeholders (clients, other lenders, investors, creditors, colleagues etc.)
- Strong negotiation skills
