1.0 Temporary Electrician - North Region

Job Summary:
As part of the Maintenance team, you must be able to work efficiently independently and with others. You will report directly to the Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor. The Electrician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of various electrically related components as may be found in the power distribution systems, lighting systems, public address systems, life safety and security systems, data wiring, building controls and HVAC systems at a variety of locations, and provide cost estimates and prioritize work orders. You must possess good computer skills with the ability to work with a variety of applications such as: Microsoft Office 365, including email; work orders; building management; and attendance software. The Electrician will be familiar with all applicable codes and regulations such as Electrical, Fire, and Building codes, OSHA and WHMIS.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, electrical code specifications, and diagrams for installation and repair of building systems and equipment.
Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment, install conduit and pull conductors as required through ceiling spaces and wall/floor penetrations.
Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of systems following installation, replacement, or repair.
Troubleshoot and isolate faults in the electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
Connect electrical power to sound and visual communication equipment, signaling devices, and HVAC systems.
Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
Working Requirements:
You may be required to work in cramped areas or at considerable heights.
You may have to work outside in inclement weather conditions.
You must have the ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
You must practice safe working procedures.
You must be in good physical condition and be able to carry materials, tools, and equipment as required.
Qualifications :
Current provincial Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician.
An Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities Branch Certificate of Qualification 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician (preferred).
Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
Fire alarm certification and experience with controls and public address systems would be an asset.
Minimum of three years’ experience in the electrical trade as a qualified electrician is required.
Rate of Pay: $30.26 per hour
