About this role

The Asset Manager is responsible for leading Mine Maintenance and Asset Maintenance operations, ensuring performance targets are met in line with the Budget and Life of Mine planning. The role focuses on achieving operational goals in a safe and cost-efficient manner. The Asset Manager will provide direction for all production-related activities, including mine, maintenance, and surface operations, to ensure compliance with mine plans and equipment reliability. The key objectives are to meet or exceed production, development, and cost targets while promoting safety and operational durability.

Your role will consist of:
  • Implement Full Potential projects and Asset Management best practices.
  • Manage mine and plant automation with IT/OT team support.
  • Align maintenance strategy to meet production targets.
  • Achieve consolidated EBITDA and free cash flow targets.
  • Improve governance over capital expenditures.
  • Ensure timely submission and quality of investment papers (IRPs) for sustaining capital.
  • Keep sustaining capital expenditures within target ranges.
  • Ensure timely closure and delivery of closed projects.
  • Coordinate operational activities with the Site Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Training Team for operational training needs.
  • Review mine production and maintenance schedules with senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Social, and Environmental Responsibility (S&ER) standards.
  • Manage on-site contractors to deliver safe and cost-effective services.
  • Oversee reclamation activities and ensure compliance with reclamation targets.
  • Communicate with Québec regulators on equipment certifications and mining regulations.
  • Promote teamwork and continuous skill development among direct reports.
  • Maintain operational continuity with a robust risk management system.
  • Lead by example, ensuring safety culture is upheld.
  • Ensure timely reporting and compliance with safety protocols (JHA, FRA, Enablon).
  • Implement and maintain Newmont safety initiatives, including succession planning and team development.
Your training, skills, and experience checklist:

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mining or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

Experience:

  • 10-12 years of experience in an underground mining environment, with a minimum of 3 years in a management capacity.
  • Experience in mine maintenance roles.
  • Prior experience managing and administering CAPEX and OPEX budgets for a multinational organization.
  • Operational experience as a Maintenance Manager.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including SAP, RPM Global software (AMT, Xeras), MWorkOrder, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and MS Project.
  • Advanced relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced project management abilities.
  • Advanced information monitoring and management skills.
  • Advanced planning, organizing, and prioritizing abilities.
  • Strong supervisory capabilities.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Bilingualism is preferred.
