As the Manager Sustaining Capital, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of sustaining capital projects, ensuring they meet operational goals, safety standards, and budget requirements. You’ll be the go-to expert for capital project execution at the site, working closely with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to drive project success.
- Lead the projects and the operation in safety. Clearly demonstrate and execute safety leadership that prioritizes employee safety, and creates a culture of safety within the projects and the operation.
- Lead the design, development, and safe delivery of sustaining capital projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion. Lead and managed the sustaining capital projects pipeline for site - from studies to execution, and have an integrated and strategic view of all projects and all interfaces for projects managed on site.
- Identify and diagnose operational, technical and safety challenges and initiate plans to manage them. Conduct risk assessments, develop management systems to manage identified risk and verify the associated actions are being completed. Appropriately manage resources (human resources, funding, and equipment) against the plan. Where appropriate, ensure compliance to the local regulation .
- Lead site sustaining capital projects pipeline, ensuring a plan in line with operational requirements, budgets, and resources, to create and lead the projects. Work with project teams to establish project scopes, objectives, and deliverables. Ensure projects approval is followed for sustaining capital projects, aligned with the Newmont stage gate process.
- Represent as a single point of contact for the GM and site leadership team for delivery of all sustaining capital projects, risks, and interfaces. Represent as a single point of contact for the site for enterprise projects and collaborate with enterprise projects to drive alignment to projects processes, policies, procedures, applying expertise and guidance where required. Initiate regular meetings and communication to ensure all parties are aware of project progress and manage both risks and opportunities.
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project delivery. This will include extensive partner and contractor management. Articulate, role model and drive a culture of health and safety across all areas of sustaining capital projects. Act as a leader, coach and mentor in all areas of project management expertise, safety, people leadership, and expected behaviors. Build current and future capability through training, talent management and development pathways.
- Monitor all key performance indicators, including safety, community, environment, project delivery and costs, reporting on all key metrics, risks, and corrective measures. Manage the overall project budget. Investigate reports and data to diagnose trends and action where appropriate. Track both project forecasting and execution.
- Identify and develop plans for continuous improvement and optimization across the projects portfolio for the site.
- Form part of the site leadership team, actively contributing to overall site leadership, culture, and site delivery, with focus and responsibility for the sustaining capital portfolio, safety, and teams
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years leadership- Extensive capital project management experience (preferably $10M-$100M) in mining or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, budgeting, and cost management.
- Expertise in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and contractor management.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $171,400-244,800 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
