Purpose

The Steam Truck Operator helps to maintain the production and support equipment fleet, necessary to meet our production targets. The mobile equipment is required to be cleaned, prior to performing scheduled maintenance tasks, and steaming is a critical required step in the haul truck frame inspection program.

The Red Chris Mine Mobile Maintenance team is recruiting for a Steam Truck Operator for a Fly-In, Fly-Out opportunity working on a two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off rotation.

Essential Duties

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, the responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Operating the steam truck and pressure washing units to properly clean production, service, and support equipment.
  • Working outside during all seasons/weather with water, on 12-hour shifts, rotating between day and nightshift
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to decrease wash times and streamline work processes
  • Report deficiencies and provide feedback on all equipment after washing
  • Use of computer to input timesheets, work order notes, equipment cleanliness information, and shift turn over notes
  • Assist with other maintenance activities as required
Training & Experience

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Team player with strong Verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently once familiar with the role requirements.
  • A Valid Class 3 driver’s license is required - preferably with airbrakes endorsement
  • A Strong commitment to Safety and the ability to adhere to all Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Experience related to a Steam Truck Operator or Wash Bay Attendant, specific training is preferred
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Able to work outdoors, wearing appropriate personnel protective equipment in all seasons
  • Competency driving a vehicle with a standard transmission required
  • Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Physically capable of lifting (50lbs), carrying, bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling in a physically demanding and fast paced environment

The expected salary range for this role is CA$33.17/hour . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
