TEACHER - PRIMARY, JUNIOR & INTERMEDIATE

OUR LADY OF FATIMA

1.0 FTE

Primary/Junior/Intermediate Native-As-A-Second-Language

Effective immediately

Mandatory Requirements:

Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary, Junior and Intermediate Divisions

Additional qualification in Native-as-a-Second Language

Fluency in the Ojibwe language - Nipissing dialect

Access to a vehicle as travel between schools is required

Preferred Requirements:

Knowledge and understanding of second language teaching and learning concepts

Understanding of how Indigenous perspectives are integrated throughout the curriculum

Knowledge of the culture and traditions of First Nations Métis and Inuit Peoples

Understanding of the Ontario curriculum and experience in implementing a balanced approach to teaching literacy and using student data to drive instruction

Understanding and proven ability to implement differentiated instruction and the principles of Learning for All and Growing Success

Strong knowledge and experience employing effective assessment for, as and of learning practices

Familiarity with the Board community and a willingness to be part of a team approach to teaching and learning

Flexibility to teach other subjects as required

Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, as well as additional G-Suite digital tools and EDSBY.

Commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner

Understanding and commitment to the implementation of culturally responsive pedagogy and the integration of Indigenous perspectives into instruction

Sound knowledge and understanding of the development of student individual profiles to support the planning of differentiated instruction for a range of student learning needs

Commitment to being an active participant on the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement

Willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties and familiarity with the school environment would be an asset

Special Education Part 1 would be an asset

Fluency in the Cree language would be considered an asset
