SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
1.0 FTE Permanent Full-Time
Effective date: Upon selection of the successful candidate
The Speech Language Pathologist will report to the Coordinator of Special Education and will provide assessment and treatment of communication disorders for students in the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board.
Mandatory Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Current registration in good standing with CASLPO or eligibility to register with CASLPO.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience in providing assessment, program consultation and treatment as required for children with speech and language disorders
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Experience in monitoring programs through direct observation of students or consultation with the implementation team
Provide clinical supervision of Communicative Disorders Assistant(s)
Ability to work collaboratively with families, school and board personnel, as well as professional multidisciplinary teams (i.e. Therapy Services, Medical, Mental Health)
Willingness to undertake itinerant duties, providing service to all schools in the board
Plan and oversee implementation of individual and group speech and language therapy goals
Develop and conduct in-services, workshops and presentations to school and board staff
Participate in professional development activities that contribute to effective service delivery
Previous work experience with school age children would be an asset
Experience and/or knowledge of strategies for supporting students who have developmental delays/disorders, or other communicative impairments
Knowledge of Assistive Technology for functional communication support would be an asset
Must have own vehicle and an ability to travel to multiple school locations, as assigned
