About This Opportunity

The physician group at the Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Building (VMB) is looking for a physician to fill the following call shifts:
• August 16, 17, 18, 31
• September 1, 2
The physician on-call is responsible for all Family Practice In-patient Units (FPIU), which includes 175 LTC beds and approximately 26 low acuity, post acute-care patients in the Geriatric Restorative Care Unit (GRCU).

The overnight call shift is from 5pm to 8am on weekdays, and 5pm Friday to 8am Monday morning on weekends. For holiday shifts, call starts on 8am until the following morning at 8am. Weeknight call is remunerated at $300 per night, and $400 for weekend and holidays. Any inpatients you directly assess during your call shift are to be fee-for-service billed.

This is a great opportunity for a physician interested in exploring long-term care opportunities or any physician who is interested in additional call shifts. There is potential to be added to the long-term call rotation if interested.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention

Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’

Act as a patient’s advocate

Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations

Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements

Qualifications

Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)

Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)

Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
