The Sport, Recreation, and Major Events Division, newly established within the Ministry of Sport, is dedicated to enhancing the regulation and promotion of combative sports in Ontario. In this role, you will:
• Lead and manage a high-performing team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective operations.
• Delegate powers and duties, if required
• Oversee the implementation and enforcement of the Combative Sports Act, ensuring alignment with the Ministry's goals and compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management strategies for sports events.
• Collaborate with provincial sport organizations and other stakeholders to promote safe and regulated sports activities.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures for the effective regulation of combative sports.
• Drive strategic planning, budgeting, and policy development processes.
• Represent the Ministry at high-level events and meetings, advocating for the interests and integrity of the sports community.

• You have experience leading complex projects and high-profile initiatives, effectively utilizing resources and prioritizing tasks to deliver results.

Technical Expertise and Operational Skills:• You have experience in regulatory compliance and developing and implementing standard operating procedures.
• You can conduct risk assessments and develop risk management strategies.
• You have in-depth knowledge of combative sports, including professional and amateur disciplines.
• You are familiar with government regulations and best practices in sports governance.
• You have experience in financial planning and budgeting.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:• You have experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including government officials and sports organizations.
• You are a strong negotiator who can influence others to find collaborative solutions for complex issues
• You demonstrate clear communication skills in articulating strategy, direction, advice and recommendations.
