What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:
• lead and coordinate promotional or operational initiatives for compliance/enforcement programs within an assigned program and/or geographic area of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry;
• provide advice, recommendations and identify problems and issues pertaining to enforcement compliance, inspections and investigations;
• analyze options, prepare reports, conduct, lead and coordinate investigations/audits to address resource management enforcement issues;
• liaise with Enforcement Branch managers, Legal Services Branch, Provincial enforcement specialists, Crown Attorneys and field investigators in all aspects of operational work;
• provide customer service to internal and external clients
This position will require:
• the ability to work shifts, weekends and holidays
• the ability to travel for extended periods of time
• the ability to work in remote and isolated locations
How do I qualify?Mandatory:• You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
• You either possess or have the ability to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator's Card.
• You either possess or have the ability to obtain proof of having passed the Ontario Hunting License Examination or equivalent.
• You either possess or have the ability to obtain proof of having passed the Canadian Firearms Safety Course or possess a Possession and Acquisition Firearms Licence.
• You have the ability to pass a psychological assessment.
• You have the ability to successfully complete the PARE, PREP or ESAP-ENPQ Police 2017 physical assessment to determine fitness for the position.
• You have the ability to qualify as a Conservation Officer, which includes the ability to successfully complete Basic Constable Training at the Ontario Police College or enforcement branch approved equivalent.

• proven ability to exercise sound judgment in stressful and potentially threatening situations
• demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Conflict recognition and management, impact and influence, relationship building• experience developing and maintaining harmonious relationships, responding appropriately and providing direction to clients in an assertive and professional manner
• proven ability to influence and persuade others to adopt a specific course of action
• experience identifying potential conflicts and proactively bringing disagreements into the open to help address and diffuse potential issues
Concern for quality and standards, integrity, expertise:• integrity to ensure your actions are consistent with organizational values, policies and codes of conduct
• proven ability to monitor and evaluate work quality and processes against managerial direction, policies, standards and regulations
Subject matter expertise:• experience interpreting, applying and enforcing natural resource management legislation (e.g. Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act, Fisheries Act, Invasive Species Act, Crown Forest Sustainability Act) and other related legislation (e.g. Criminal Code, Constitution Act) and manuals
• experience identifying situations of non-compliance and assessing the associated level of risk
• thorough knowledge and experience applying investigative techniques and processes, legal methods and rules of evidence in order to coordinate search and seizures, make arrests and lay charges, support court work and determine the best approaches by which to conduct further investigations
Communication skills:• demonstrated oral communication skills to explain complex policies, procedures and techniques and deliver presentations
• demonstrated written communication skills to accurately document information and prepare reports
• proficient with common office software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet, etc.)
Operational administrative skills:• proven ability to coordinate human and physical resource allocations in the development of work plans, project proposals, audit teams, and project how resources can/should be deployed to meet new/changing program activities
