What can I expect to do in this role?You will be responsible for:

• Promoting and monitoring the security of ministry computer systems.
• Maintaining the security database and performing cleanup per audit requirements.
• Providing security access administration for ministry and external clients and ensuring requests have appropriate authorization.
• Providing problem identification and resolution for a province-wide client base.

How do I qualify?Technical Skills and Knowledge:• Demonstrated knowledge of security procedures to enable administering, enforcing and controlling of major computer systems and databases to ensure security access requests are within the requirements of the job functions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) to ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information is maintained; guidelines are adhered to.
•Ability to assess viability of requests and determine eligibility for access to security systems.

Analytical, Problem Solving and Organizational Skills:• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and research skills to provide security administration support, advice, consultation, troubleshooting and make recommendations for corrective action along with resolution.
• Demonstrated planning and organizational skills to manage work activities, set priorities, develop procedures, respond to inquiries and to ensure timely resolution of security access requests while meeting deadlines.

Communication, Interpersonal and Customer Service Skills:• Demonstrated advanced written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to: provide policy and legislation interpretation, including detailed explanations to ensure understanding, to customers, internal and external stakeholders; document problems; provide troubleshooting and resolution; and deliver information and advice.
• Demonstrated comprehensive client service skills to deliver accurate and timely identification and resolution of security-related issues for various client groups with varying access requirements.
• You have the ability to work alone or within a team environment.

Computer and Other Essential Skills:• Knowledge of computer systems and databases to provide technical support, maintenance and administration of mainframe production files.
• Demonstrated skills using Microsoft software and application software to perform updates, maintenance and offer technical support.
• Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures and policies to develop and maintain security filing systems.
