Fall 2024 Night School Program - Supply Secondary Teacher

Overview

Continuing Education is seeking Certified Occasional Teachers to join our Secondary OT Roster. Occasional Teachers replace short-term absences in our Night School program and are an integral part of our district.

The Fall 2024 Night School program will be offered through Remote Learning (Virtual) (synchronous/ asynchronous delivery via Google Classroom/Google Meets). Teachers will work from home and must have access to reliable internet and be comfortable with asynchronous and synchronous learning opportunities.

The Fall 2024 Night School program offers Reach Ahead courses in the following subjects: Canadian and World Studies, Cooperative Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, ESL as well as the Ontario Secondary School Literacy course.

The Fall 2024 Night School program for students will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Thursday, September 19, 2024 - Tuesday, December 17, 2024 (26 nights).

Each session is 3.85 instructional hours, running from 5:30 p.m. to 9:21 pm. Teachers must be prepared to deliver the assigned credit through Synchronous and Asynchronous platforms according to a PREDETERMINED Schedule. The platforms that will be used to deliver virtual learning expectations will include Google Classroom as the Learning Management Platform and Google Meet for class meetings. Teachers may also wish to incorporate other vetted applications and resources and will be able to access resources within the VLE.

Program duration for students: September 19, 2024 - December 17, 2024 (26 nights)

Program location: Virtual

Class times: 5:30 pm - 9:21 pm

Pay rate: $55.45/hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
