We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team:

HR Advisor

1.0 Term Assignment to August 31, 2025

Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Union Exempt Level 5: $70,786 to $83,296 per annum

Under the general direction of the Team Manager, the Human Resources Advisor coordinates the hiring and induction of new casual support staff (ECEs, EAs, ELAs, Office, Library Technicians, etc.), including attending and participating at recruitment/job fairs, interviews, and coordinating and managing various casual employee pools. The HR Advisor acts as a resource to senior staff, union federations, supervisors, principals/vice principals and employees on all human resource matters, and of which requires an understanding of the collective agreements, OCDSB policies and procedures, and government legislation.

Qualifications

A diploma in Human Resource Management, and at least 5 years experience in HR administration and recruitment activities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP), or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) is a definite asset.

Knowledge and understanding of collective agreements, employee handbooks, HR policies, practices and processes, and employment & education legislation.

Experience working with unions, and in a unionized environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, senior staff and district employees, including using sensitivity and empathy with affected stakeholders.

Public speaking skills for making presentations in large or small group settings.

Writing skills for preparing correspondence, emails, and other materials which may be shared with district personnel, including training materials for workshops.

Organizational skills, as well as time management techniques for organizing and planning work/projects, juggling multiple priorities, and ensuring staffing & payroll deadlines are met.

Excellent proficiency in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and google applications to effectively perform work.

Strong research and analytical skills required, including initiative and judgment skills required for resolving problems and conflicts.

High degree of discretion is required, including using tact and diplomacy.

Must be able to work independently, with minimal direction and supervision.

Committed to teamwork and team building.

Ability to speak French is considered an asset.
