We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team: TEAM MANAGER, PARYOLLLocation: OCDSB Administration Building, 133 Greenbank Road, Nepean, ONPosition Status: Regular, Full-time (1.0 FTE)Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per weekAffiliation: Union-ExemptSalary Range: $115,117 to $135,459 per annum (Level 9)Job Summary Reporting to the General Manager of Finance, the Team Manager for Payroll Services oversees all aspects of the Payroll and Pension activities, including supervising and training a team of payroll and pension professionals; Ensures the timely and accurate completion and submission of payroll each weekly pay period for over 12,000 employees within various employee groups (union and non-union personnel); and ensures all payroll accounting procedures are timely and accurate. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Overseeing and supervising payroll staff and functions, ensuring pays are processed accurately and on time, and in compliance with government legislation. Overseeing and reviewing payroll payments to Canada Revenue Agency and other Federal and Provincial agencies, unions/Federations, benefits carriers for health and dental programs and other vendors as required. Reviewing and approving remittances to Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) and the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP). Ensuring that mandatory reporting, including T4s and Records of Employment are completed on time. Collaborating on the School Year Calendar committee in order to determine the upcoming school year calendar, including the allocation of teaching days and professional activity days. Generating daily audit reports of banking information keyed into payroll software and verifying source documents to ensure legitimacy and to ensure accuracy in the employee profile. Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders such as Employee Services, Labour Relations, Finance and other departments/schools. Qualifications A post-secondary degree or diploma with a focus on business administration from an accredited university or college and 8 years of experience in payroll administration in a complex multi-union environment, including four years of supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required. Excellent knowledge and understanding of payroll administration, payroll and time reporting systems. Knowledge of financial and human resources activities. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, designing and implementing business processes and internal controls. Managerial skills for supervising, directing, and evaluating staff; as well as demonstrating leadership for coaching, mentoring, motivating teams; establishes priorities, checks and evaluates work of others. Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) required to provide information, direction, and for interacting with others to establish and maintain relationships within the District; Oral communication skills for making presentations. Tact, diplomacy and discretion is required. Organizational skills, including time management techniques for organizing and prioritizing work, establishing payroll timelines; and ensuring deadlines are met. Significant judgment for decision-making and problem solving. Proficiency in computer technology, including word processing, spreadsheet, HRP software, and applicable databases, to accomplish work.
