Thank you for considering the Ottawa Catholic School Board as a potential Employer. We are looking for enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team on a temporary basis from April 22 for approximately 6-8 weeks. Bus Attendants must be available to work before and after school on split shifts. Hours may vary on a daily or weekly basis, as this is dependent on location of the student(s), school and the Attendant. There is no requirement for the Attendant to have access to their own transportation, as the Bus will pick up and drop off the Attendant at their residence. This route provides support for students attending St. Paul HS located at 2675 Draper Avenue, Ottawa.
Under the direction of the Principal, the Bus Attendant is responsible for:
Assisting with bus loading and unloading of children in the developmental education programs
Ensuring the students comfort and safety during transportation
Works closely with school staff and the vehicle Driver to assist in safe transfer of the students to and from school
Maintains an appropriate medical log as required
Upholds confidentiality of student info
Qualifications:
Secondary School Diploma, in the process of completing the diploma and/or an equivalency
Previous experience working with children with exceptionalities would be considered an asset
Previous school board experience would be considered an asset
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Team player and good decision making ability
Up to date First Aid and CPR are considered an asset
At the completion of a successful interview, you will be required to provide an Original Police Record check for the vulnerable sector.
Schedule: Split shifts (morning and afternoon routes) 5 days per week with the exception of PD days and regular school breaks. Bell times for St. Paul HS are 8:00 am and 2:05 pm.
Salary: Hourly wage is $22.75/hour per hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay.
Start Date: This is a temporary position starting April 22, 2025 with an anticipated to last approximately 6-8 weeks. Final date of work is to be determined.
