Temporary Full-Time Family School Liaison Counselor (FSLC)

Location: Vulcan County (Vulcan Prairieview Elementary, County Central High School, Champion School)

Anticipated Start Date: August 26, 2024

Anticipated End Date: March 18, 2025 (or return of incumbent)

Specialty Required : FSLC, Social Worker Degree, Counselling/Psych Degree, or similar

Palliser School Division, headquartered in Lethbridge, Alberta, educates around 9,300 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. It has a diverse network of 51 schools, including traditional public schools, outreach programs, Low German Mennonite schools, faith-based schools, Hutterite colony schools, the National Sports School and even an online school. Notably, 10 of the faith-based schools are located in Calgary.

The Palliser School Division is currently welcoming applications for the position of a Full-time, Temporary, Family School Liaison Counselor, commencing August 26th, 2024, until March 18, 2025, or return of incumbent.

Reporting to the Clinical Team Lead you will be a game-changer for student success! The FSLC role equips students with strategies to navigate life's challenges. Beyond the classroom, you will be a guiding force for students and families facing obstacles, advocating for their needs and helping them overcome barriers. Responsibilities:

Provision of direct counseling intervention to children and their families;

Provision of preventative and educational programming to students, parents, school staff and other interested community members;

Crisis management and risk assessment services provided to students

The Family School Liaison Counselor (FSLC) will be a strong team member, working in partnership with school staff and interagency partners.

Experience & Qualifications:

Successful candidate will possess an equivalent Master’s degree in the counseling area, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, or equivalent.

Successful Criminal Reference Check, including vulnerable sectors (within 3 months of contract start date).

In order to maintain a safe and secure working environment, applicants new to The Palliser School Division must provide:

Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector check from Local Police Service or RCMP detachment;

Social Insurance Number (SIN) card or document issued by Service Canada; SIN card/document must be in current legal name. Name on SIN card/document must match your Government Issued ID and Criminal Record Check;
