The Opportunity
Parkland School Division is currently hiring Casual Support Staff for positions across all PSD locations. Available (on an as needed basis) roles include:
Education Assistants
Clerical Support
Library Support
Casual Support Positions Overview
Education Assistant
Education Assistants work with teaching staff to support students with diverse abilities and unique needs, including autism, behavioral challenges, mental health issues, and physical health concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate positive interactions among students, staff, and the community
Supervise and monitor student conduct
Assist with physical tasks, including lifting and transferring students
Support students during break periods and bus arrival/departure
Education & Experience:
Diploma or Certificate in Child and Youth Care or Education Assistance (preferred)
Experience working with children with communication delays and challenging behaviors
First-Aid Level I and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification (asset)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Clerical/Secretary Support
Secretaries manage the front office, acting as ambassadors of the school and supporting its administrative needs. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, flexible approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Reception duties, including greeting visitors and handling calls
Providing information and directing inquiries to appropriate staff
Opening and distributing mail, photocopying, and document assembly
Supporting students as needed, including dispensing medication and contacting parents
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma; Office Administration/Accounting Diploma (preferred)
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid certification (asset)
Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
Library Support
Library Support staff ensure the library operates smoothly and supports the school community in a welcoming environment. Working collaboratively and independently, they foster a shared learning space.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Principal or designate
Support and supervise students in the library
Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma
Experience with Destiny, Discovery Education, and Google Apps is beneficial
Strong reading, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, with flexibility and creativity
