Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Designer to join our Drainage team! In this role you will support the grading, design and 3D modeling of transit/highway corridors as a Designer. You will work closely with other Designers/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of standard arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Develop 3D dimensional models required for drawing preparation, clash reporting and presentation aligned with the project LOD requirements and modeling standards.
  • Applies standard design principles and site-condition to complete grading modeling assignments in Civil3D.
  • Ensure coordination of all Model interfaces with designers and engineers of other disciplines.
  • Ensure all Models, drawings and deliverables are checked to comply with project and company quality standards and CAD requirements.
  • Prepare the engineering drawings from the model that comprises of detailed arrangements, plans, sections and elevations.
  • Develop and extract 2D geometry from the models for drawing production and internal reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Prepare models and reports for constructability analysis.
  • Coordinate work with the lead technical engineer, including taking responsibility for timely completion of deliverables.
  • Hands on construction experience and/or work with existing transit projects is considered an asset.
  • May assist in training lower-level Designers/Drafters by providing guidance and mentorship.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering from an accredited technical institution.
  • Minimum 3+ years 3D modeling experience; Proficient in CAD design 2D/3D (AutoCAD).
  • Understand the principles of drainage and grading works.
  • Proficient in a range of BIM Authoring, Scripting, Design Review, Coordination, Simulations and Collaboration Platforms like ACC, Civil3D, AutoCAD, ProjectWise, and Bluebeam Studio.
  • Rail projects experience is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of General BIM Model requirements (i.e., LOD, Naming convention, parametric modeling, etc.) is considered as an added advantage.
