Job Description:
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for the position of an intermediate level Environmental Planner to support Parsons Infrastructure business.
Parsons is a flexible employer that is open to staff being mapped to our offices in the Greater Toronto Area, Ottawa, or Halifax.
The Environmental Planner’s key responsibilities will include working with and supporting senior Environmental Planners and mentoring junior staff on Environmental Assessment (EA) projects (Municipal and Transit projects, and Environmental Impact Statements/Environmental Effect Evaluations for municipal, provincial, and federal projects.)
The Environmental Planner’s key responsibilities include:
- Be involved in a range of infrastructure projects including report writing, evaluation of alternatives, impact assessment and development of project consultation programs
- Assist with proposal preparation
- Client Liaison
- Coordination of subconsultants
- Lead/coordinate EA processes
Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience
- Post-secondary education in any of: planning, environmental science/studies, biology/ecology, geography, or related field
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Working knowledge of Environmental Assessments including Municipal Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process, Canadian Impact Assessment Act, Ministry of Transportation Class EA Process
- Experience in the Ontario market with a focus on infrastructure projects (local/regional municipalities, MTO, Metrolinx, TTC)
- Membership (candidate status or full membership) in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (RPP) and Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) or the ability to gain candidate status is preferred
- Familiar with environmental permitting and approvals process
- Strong technical writing skills
- Knowledge of local, provincial and federal environmental policies, legislation and applicable law
- French language considered an asset
