Senior Municipal / Project Engineer (Calgary)

Are you ready to put your project engineering expertise to work on marquee projects that will change the fabric of our communities? Do you enjoy being involved on a wide variety of engineering tasks on large-scale, complex projects? Parsons is now hiring a Senior Municipal/Project Manager for our rapidly expanding portfolio of infrastructure projects in Alberta.

This position will create opportunities and provide services to meet our municipal clients’ needs and objectives for the design and construction of roads, water, sanitary, drainage and active transportation infrastructure with the potential of participating in projects across Western Canada. You will liaise with clients and stakeholders, manage design teams, and manage projects during the construction phase. You will be the key interface and primary point of contact on project-related matters for the successful delivery of projects, and in pursuing new opportunities with municipalities located in Southern Alberta.

In this role you will integrate the various engineering, estimating, scheduling, procurement, construction, and startup aspects of projects.

The position requires someone based in Calgary, preferably with significant experience working with the City of Calgary as well as other municipalities. This is a flexible hybrid role with some time expected each week in the Calgary office and some time at home. Full-time at the office is also supported.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead municipal projects and/or design teams. Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of technical, financial, and administrative aspects of projects.
  • Develop the scope of engineering design work, schedules, and budgets for project elements, and monitor progress to meet schedule and budget requirements.
  • Determine the technical skills and staff hours required for successful project completion.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary technical personnel with other project engineers/managers.
  • Ensure client criteria and scope are met.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience in local roadways, sanitary and water systems, drainage, and other municipal engineering projects
  • Licensed professional holding registration in good standing with APEGA
  • Experience working with City of Calgary and other nearby municipalities.
  • Proven leadership experience with teams and/or projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Familiar with industry practices and regulations
  • Knowledgeable of current technology and able to apply the appropriate engineering design and modeling software for product deliveries.
