Our Winnipeg team is currently looking for a mechanically minded apprentice individual to ensure our fleet is running safely and smoothly. This role is perfect for people who are passionate about automotive excellence and are dedicated to showcasing and developing their technical skills with our experienced team.

Compensation:

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary.
  • Respond to road calls.
  • Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records.
  • Maintain cleanliness in areas of work.
  • Maintain records of daily check list (pre-trip inspections)
  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner.
  • Follow the direction of Fleet Supervisor/Manager
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Strong mathematical/mechanical aptitude required. Test to be administered.
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing
  • Excellent communication skills and able to read and write in English
  • Ability to work safely in a team environment & take direction from team members
  • Ability to work shift and overtime as scheduled
  • Must be able to lift/carry 75 lbs
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 75 lbs
  • Must be able to perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, climbing, reaching and grasping
  • Pre-apprentice training completion considered an asset
  • Ticketed Trade considered an asset
  • Incumbent is responsible for identifying applicable school and completing application process
  • Incumbent must complete apprenticeship within 5 years

Additional skills you may have (not required, these are assets):

  • Experience with propane and electric forklifts, hydraulic liftgates, agriculture equipment, reefers, vans, pickups and cars
  • Welding and electrical experience
  • Class 1 / AZ preferred

Physical demands and working conditions:

  • You can lift/carry and push/pull up to 100lbs
  • You are comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment
  • Must be able to perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, reaching and grasping
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and overtime as required
