QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or suitable combination of relevant education and experience related to the position
* Interprovincial 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate or Journeyman in one of the Construction/Building related trades
* Minimum three (3) years of Supervisory experience related to physical plant operation, facility maintenance and repair, and supervision of journeyman trades in a Health Care setting
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings and specification manuals
* Thorough knowledge of building and fire codes and related regulations applicable to health facilities in Manitoba
* Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations
* Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within the Prairie Mountain Health
* Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment
* Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
* Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of health care management
* Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
* Demonstrated ability to develop Policy & Procedures
* Ability to display independent judgment
* Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
* Ability to respect and promote confidentiality

POSITION SUMMARY

The Area Supervisor, Maintenance shall be accountable to the Area Manager, Capital & Infrastructure and is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation and operation of the physical plant and infrastructure maintenance within Prairie Mountain Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Responsible for the safe administration and operation of physical plant and infrastructure maintenance throughout Prairie Mountain Health.
  2. Monitors appropriate financial, human resources, equipment and environmental issues of physical plant and infrastructure maintenance within Prairie Mountain Health.
  3. Oversees the development of policies and procedures related to physical plant and infrastructure maintenance.
  4. Instrumental in the planning and development of a sustainable program.
  5. Participates in portfolio/facility/regional team structure.
  6. Develops and maintains functional relationships with other departments/ programs.
  7. Plans for continued professional development of staff and self.
  8. Promotes positive public relations.
  9. Operationalizes Prairie Mountain Health’s Vision, Mission and Values statements.
  10. Promotes the quality dimensions of access, safety, effectiveness and satisfaction in the provision of Prairie Mountain Health’s services.
