QUALIFICATIONS
*Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
*Completion of Health Unit clerk certificate, Medical Terminology course (1 and 2 or equivalent) or equivalent hospital based training
*2 years of experience in a Health Care setting
*1 year experience in scheduling patients procedures/tests
*Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
*Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
*Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
*Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment
*Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
*Demonstrated communication skills
*Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
*Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clerk IV - Booking Clerk will provide clerical and administrative support functions for all staff and clients who receive services from the program that they support. The Clerk IV - Booking Clerk functions as an integral part of the Health Care Team and performs all duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Policies and Procedures of Prairie Mountain Health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  1. Preparing procedure schedules based on booking information and appropriate resources.
  2. Utilizing block booking guidelines to schedule physician’s procedures.
  3. Effective written, oral and telephone communication within the hospital between units and departments and external agencies.
  4. Promoting and maintaining good public relations between the hospital, patients, families and visitors. Provide the vehicle by which information and communication (written, telephone, and interpersonal) are appropriately channelled in a manner that affords the individual respect and dignity.
  5. Recognizing and responding to the need for continuous learning and personal development eg. attendingrelevant inservices/workshops, upgrading information technology capabilities.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
