Job Description

Reporting to the mechanical supervisor, the mechanic will be responsible for the following activities:

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Properly inspect and maintain mobile and air equipment (surface and underground);
  • Safely install devices or equipment;
  • Perform basic welding and oxy-fuel cutting as needed;
  • Ensure the effective and safe progress of task-related activities;
  • Collaborate closely with all team members;
  • Secure the work area;
  • Actively participate in prevention activities and training;
  • Accurately complete daily reports and work orders related to assigned tasks;
  • Comply with laws, regulations, and work procedures;
  • Perform any other related duties.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or equivalent training and relevant experience;
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a mobile equipment mechanic and Alimak mechanic (an asset);
  • Completed Modular Mining Worker Certification (FMTM 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7) and Common Core (Ontario);
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Valid general explosives permit;
  • Basic computer knowledge (an asset);
  • Willingness to work in a remote area and in a multicultural environment;
  • Autonomy and resourcefulness;
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to communicate in French or English with team members.
