Our Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Regional Environmental Superintendent, Northwest Ontario Sawmills. This job is permanent, full-time.

Regional Environmental Superintendent, Northwest Ontario Sawmills

Resolute Forest Products is seeking candidates for the position of Regional Environmental Superintendent to support our Northwestern Ontario Sawmills.

The Regional Environmental Superintendent is directly responsible for providing support and direction to ensure site environmental systems meet company and legislative compliance. Your responsibilities:

  • Uphold and surpass the highest safety and environmental benchmarks during all operational activities.
  • Leadership support to Operations Management & Supervisory group on Environmental issues.
  • Develop and communicate Resolute Environmental policies, procedures and certification programs.
  • Provide site Environmental leadership through management by example and relationship development.
  • Assist with the environmental support and ISO-14001.
  • Provide comprehensive and effective Environmental training. Design and implement training to address any gaps identified.
  • Create opportunities for expanded employee involvement and participation in Environmental matters.
  • Lead and/or oversee incident investigations and drive environmental action items to completion.
  • Conduct periodic assessments or inspections of Environmental programs to identify and correct deficiencies related to compliance with the Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop, organize and communicate metrics to track Environmental performance.
  • Willingness to travel 25% (Ontario Sawmills mainly Northwest Thunder Bay, Ontario)

Ideal profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or science, or other relevant field.
  • Demonstrated progression in leadership roles
  • Professional designation with extensive operational experience.

  • Reporting to the General Manager, Northwestern Ontario Sawmills, you will be part of a dynamic team to which you will contribute vital skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including making presentations to leaders and teams
  • Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
  • Solid analytical, organizational and problem solving skills and the ability to quickly make sound decisions based on experience and judgment even when the information available is incomplete and/or you are under pressure;
  • Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience using data and metrics to identify and address environmental issues and trends
  • Understanding of federal and provincial employment laws
  • The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health & safety, environmental, efficiency, production, and planning targets for mill operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture;
