Security Systems Technician (Service and Install)

The Security System Technician is responsible for the installation, programming and support of our offerings. This includes video surveillance - CCTV, security cameras IP base, access control and intrusion systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair all hardware and software associated to security solutions
  • Complete work reports with client sign-off
  • Follow all Customer Service policies and procedures
  • Follow job site rules and regulations for health and safety reasons

Installs

  • Review and mark up plans and diagrams associated to new installs
  • Stay within approved budget and resources for each project
  • Train customers on the use and functionality of their installed security solution
  • Program system for proper functionality according to customer requirements
  • Follow guidelines from product manuals to stay within their functionality

Service Calls

  • Work with customer to understand reported problem
  • Determine root cause of the problem, resolve it and prevent re-occurrence

Requested skills

Basic Requirements

  • Technical College Diploma in appropriate field or 5 years of equivalent experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 2 years in commercial security system install and repair
  • Bilingual
Additional Qualifications
  • Able to pass all Security and other Clearances as required
  • Ability to travel throughout the service area, with occasional overnight stays
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Computer programming and or networking education and or experience will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Security systems, Access control, CCTV, Digital Video and Controlling software
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and diagrams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done
  • Positive teamwork with co-workers, customers and contractors
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, such as lifting over 25Lbs, climbing ladders
  • Coordinate, install and program systems as per the customer’s specifications
  • Collaborate with Sales Representatives and Project Managers
  • Work to meet project estimation and deadlines
  • Standby (on call) rotation and overtime for after hours, weekends and holidays

  • Access Control: Kantech, Genetec, Salto, RBH, Keyscan, S2 CDVI, DSC/Tyco, Honeywell, Paradox
  • Video Surveillance CCTV: Milestone, Genetec, ISS, Exacq
  • Cameras : Samsung, Hikvision, Axis, Bosch, Pelco, Mobotix
