Description

A Control Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems within an organization. This role involves ensuring that processes and operations run efficiently and safely by monitoring and managing automated systems, machinery, and processes. The Control Specialist collaborates with engineering teams, maintenance personnel, and management to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. System Design and Development:
    • Develop and design control systems for MHE and automated processes.
    • Create and implement control algorithms and logic sequences.
    • Select appropriate control hardware and software to meet project requirements.
  2. Installation and Configuration:
    • Install and configure control systems and related components.
    • Ensure proper integration of control systems with existing infrastructure.
    • Conduct system testing and validation to ensure proper functionality.
  3. Monitoring and Maintenance:
    • Monitor control systems to ensure they are operating correctly and efficiently.
    • Perform regular maintenance and updates to control systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems and automation.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Optimization and Improvement:
    • Analyze system performance data to identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement changes and upgrades to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize processes.
  2. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including manuals, diagrams, and protocols.
    • Ensure control systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  3. Training and Support:
    • Provide training and support to staff on the use of control systems.
    • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures related to control systems.
    • Offer technical support and guidance during system installation and operation.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering /Control Systems Engineering/Electrician License with proficiency in PLC programming.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in control systems design, implementation, and maintenance.
Additional Qualifications
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in PLC (Allen Bradley and Siemens) and HMI programming.
    • Strong understanding of control system hardware and software.
    • Experience with SCADA (Ignition) systems.
    • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze system performance data and identify areas for improvement.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and training purposes.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with Maintenance team, engineering teams, operation staff, and management.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing control system projects from conception to completion.
Work Environment:
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in industrial environments
  • Work Schedule: Full-time position with occasional need for NHO support, on-call support after hours and week ends
  • Travel: Require travel to various sites for system installation and support.
