At QMS, we are committed to empowering students to take ownership of their learning and fostering a deep, authentic connection to the subjects they explore. We believe that education should be relevant, dynamic, and deeply engaging. As a Project-Based Learning (PBL) Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students through an exciting, hands-on, and inquiry-based learning journey, helping them develop critical 21st-century skills while embracing creativity, collaboration, and curiosity.

As a PBL Teacher at QMS, you will:

  • Design and Facilitate Meaningful Projects: Develop dynamic projects that engage students, spark their curiosity, inspire them to ask big questions, and drive inquiry-based learning. You will support students through projects exploring self-awareness, social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and societal challenges.
  • Encourage Student Ownership of Learning: Guide students as they take ownership of their educational journey, from goal setting to project planning and execution, empowering them to become independent learners and critical thinkers.
  • Foster Collaboration and Communication: Create a collaborative environment where students work together, share ideas, and solve problems, while helping them develop teamwork and interpersonal skills that are critical for success in the 21st century.
  • Inspire Creativity and Curiosity: Cultivate an atmosphere where curiosity thrives, sparking a desire in students to explore new ideas and think creatively about complex problems.
  • Integrate Cross-Disciplinary Learning: Work alongside co-teachers from various disciplines (Humanities, STEM) to design and implement cross-curricular projects that show students the interconnectedness of knowledge across subjects.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).
  • Graduate of a recognized B.Ed. program, with a focus on STEM education for Middle or Senior School grade levels.
  • Knowledge of BC Curriculum requirements for Grade 8 and 9 Science and Mathematics.
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain British Columbia teaching certification.
  • At least 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a student-centered learning environment.
  • Experience with project-based learning and cross-curricular teaching (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and support students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt to meet the diverse needs of students.
